Clare Grogan to host nightly on Absolute 80s

Altered Images singer Clare Grogan is starting a new evening show, six nights a week on digital station Absolute 80s.

She’ll be on Monday to Thursdays for an hour 8-9pm and two hours on Sunday nights 7-9pm.

The station says she’ll be taking listeners on “a nostalgic trip through the 80s by playing undisputed hits from the decade, mixed in with her personal favourites.”

Clare’s famous for hits in the 80s including Happy Birthday, Don’t Talk To Me About Love and I Could Be Happy. She went on to have acting success including in the film Gregory’s Girl and as Dave Lister (aka Radio 2’s Craig Charles)’s girlfriend Kristine Kochanski in cult TV comedy Red Dwarf.

Her first Absolute 80s show airs tonight (Monday 11th September). Clare said: “I’m thrilled to bits. Over the years I’ve had the chance to look after other people’s shows on radio but this is the first time I can call it all mine. I can’t wait to get started – I’ll honestly be dancing around the studio as I play my favourite decades songs.”

As Clare says, she’s done some radio presenting in the past, including a couple of days covering for Danny Baker on BBC Radio London in 2008.

Absolute Radio Content Director Paul Sylvester said: “Clare is an incredible storyteller and an intrinsic part of 80s culture. That’s why she’s going to be a brilliant addition to the Absolute 80s team.”
